The UAE, joining Saudi Arabia, began the registration of Arabic domain names. Until now websites had to have standard Latin script domains, posing a problem for companies in the Middle East wanting to be online yet targeting a population with no English familiarity. The UAE is currently accepting applications for governmental bodies only. It is important to note that UAENIC (United Arab Emirates Network Information Center) will begin its Landrush period on September 26, 2010 allowing anyone to apply for the registration of domain names of high commercial value. Detailed information on the timetable and processes which will apply during that period is not available yet.

Any update will be reported to you in due course.
