Articles 13 of the regulations implementing Saudi Trademark law no. M/21 was recently amended by virtue of Ministerial Resolution no. 7553 dated July 7, 2008. The Resolution was published in the Official Gazette dated August 1, 2008 and became effective in the country as of its date of publication.

Pursuant to Resolution no. 7553, the deadline within which trademark applicants are required to pay the registration fees was extended from 180 days to 270 days, calculated from the date the Trademark Office issues its final decision of acceptance. The decision accepting the registration of a trademark is deemed final upon the lapse of the 90-day opposition term or upon the issuance of a final ruling in this regard by the Board of Grievances.
