The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) has released its 2024 Intellectual Property Information Statistical Report, revealing a 13.33% increase in patent applications compared to the previous year, with over 8,000 additional filings recorded.
The report highlights notable growth across all major IP categories. Patent applications from abroad rose by 15%, while trademark filings increased by 15.72%. Design applications saw an 8.75% rise, and voluntary copyright registrations surged by 63.15%. In total, SAIP issued 4,355 patent documents, 1,578 design certificates, and 1,504 copyright registration certificates. Additionally, 31,834 trademarks were registered in 2024.
The report reflects increased engagement by both domestic and international applicants, with individual filers contributing significantly to the overall growth. It also outlines SAIP’s continued efforts to streamline examination processes and enhance IP services to support innovation and economic development.
