UAE: Launch of Electronic Portal for Intellectual Property

The Customs in Dubai in cooperation with local and governmental entities have showed readiness for launching the first governmental unified intellectual property e-portal in the region. The portal aims at protecting the society from counterfeit products. It will include local and international laws and legislations on IP and will contain as well detailed information on the most important studies carried out by students in some colleges and universities. The portal encourages the efforts made in order to spread the concept of intellectual property and protect the local economy, the consumers and the investors. Furthermore, it will raise the awareness about the importance of IP and protection of human creations especially among youth. It shows also the procedure of registering trademarks, examining counterfeit products and filing complaints.
