The Saudi Arabian Network Information Center (Saudi NIC) and the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) have recently announced that the Landrush phase for registering a domain name in Arabic under(.السعودية) has started. Saudi Arabia has joined UAE and Egypt in spearheading the Arabic domain name project in the region. Saudi NIC has stated that the opening of Arabic domains to the Arab public will increase the appeal of the internet, and help businesses reach a wider local audience. The Landrush phase which has began on September 27, 2010, will enable any and all interested individuals to registered a domain name in Saudi Arabia provided that they comply with the rules and regulations.
