The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has officially approved the delegation of Arabic domain name registration under .qatar to the Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR) on October 28, 2010.
The official delegation of these Internet domains allows ictQATAR to begin administering Arabic domains and hence making them available to interested businesses and individual. The domains will be managed by ictQATAR’s Regulatory Authority through the Qatar Domains Registry. The first registration phase is expected to begin in the outset of 2011.
