The Patent Office has recently extended the deadline to settle the cumulative patent annuities from April 1 to July 1, 2010. The cumulative annuity fees include those which fell due on the first and each subsequent anniversary of (1) the filing date of a local application, or (2) the PCT international filing date of a national phase application. A power of attorney will not be required to make the annuity payments even if there is a change in the agent of record. Applicants are also requested to complete their files by the July 1 deadline or else the application will be considered abandoned.
