The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization welcomed the deposit of the instrument of accession of the African Intellectual Property Organization to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs on June 16, 2008. The Convention will enter into force in respect of the OAPI on September 16, 2008.

The Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs has a total of 51 member states. Contracting member states from our region include: Egypt (in force as of July 1, 1952), Morocco (in force as of October 20, 1930), Syria (in force as of May 7, 2008), Tunisia (in force as of October 20, 1930), and Turkey (in force as of January 1, 2005).
