UAE: Abu Dhabi Steps Up Anti-Counterfeiting Enforcement Efforts
May 08, 2026
Abu Dhabi Registration Authority (ADRA), the regulatory arm of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, has intensified its enforcement activities against counterfeit and non-compliant goods across the Emirate during 2025.
Recent reports indicate that authorities seized counterfeit and non-compliant products valued at more than AED 1.8 million as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen trademark protection, consumer safety, and fair competition within the UAE market.
ADRA carried out 465 inspection campaigns targeting commercial establishments during 2025, reflecting an increase compared to the previous year. Inspection visits also rose substantially, resulting in numerous violations and warnings issued against non-compliant businesses.
Consumer protection enforcement likewise remained active throughout the year, with the authority handling a significant number of consumer complaints, the majority of which were reportedly resolved amicably. Additional violations and warnings were issued in relation to breaches of consumer protection regulations.
The authority also continued its awareness and outreach activities through workshops, meetings with strategic partners, and educational initiatives focused on trademark protection and consumer rights.
The increased level of enforcement reflects the UAE’s continued focus on strengthening intellectual property protection and reinforcing a secure and competitive commercial environment for businesses and consumers alike.
